“If you would win a man to your cause, first convince him that you are his sincere friend.” - Abraham Lincoln

Pondering this quote today and how it speaks to our blogging. First I'll note that I do not believe that Abe meant we should deceive people into believing they are our friends by using the word ‘convince'. But, more to the point, he meant that we should recognize our common interests in our niches and to build a relationship based on these similar interests. Simply stated: to work at being a friend.

It almost goes without saying that you need to be sincere in your blogging in order for those who visit to visit again(your cause, as per Abe). But our 16th president goes one step further in that requirement to ‘win a man' and says ‘sincere friend'. That is a bit harder, isn't it?
