Share-a-Sale ad network seems to have a lot of crafty type of advertisers for publishers of blogs, us, to work with. Currently on my crafty personal site I am going to be using them in the scrapbook section. Just to be clear - they have a lot more than just crafty merchants, I was looking for the crafty ones - Check it out… sign ups were easy. Searching out merchants were a bit tedious, but they always are.

eBay Partnership Network - Sign up for this one!

Used to be, you could only get to eBay by signing up to a advertising network. No so today. I have to say, I’m glad that this online 400-pound gorilla decided to give us little folks an ‘in’, instead having to share with someone else for the clicks/sales we bloggers produce.

Here is why I like eBay Partnership Network for the blogging moms community:

  1. Targeted ads - eBay has so many different categories and you can link to any of them with the link generator. Or link to a search term. So, what ever your site is about, you can get a dynamic ad for it’s topic… or pretty darn close to it.
  2. Widget ads are always changing. This makes it nice to keep your blog looking fresh. Go for the ads that change!
  3. You can create link ads that say it the way you want to say it! The link ad generator will make a link that says: Find Coupons Here! without putting the big eBay logo on it. Pretty snazzy.
  4. Love, love, love the videos that help you get started. Be sure to watch those.
  5. Tier system - the more your ads generate the higher your pay rate.

PayPal Donations - A Blogging Mom’s Friend

What are Paypal Donations and why do I care? Simply, they are a way to make a little revenue(money) off of your blogging. You put a little donations button on your site and when people enjoy your writing and want to give you something for it, they donate. That pretty much answers both questions, doesn’t it?

In order to have a PayPal donations button on your blog, you’ll need to have a verified PayPal account, which means it has to be set up using your bank account. I’ve had this for years, it has always worked well and I firmly believe it is a trusted company - just in case you’re wondering.

You should place your button on the side bar with a catchy title. The catchy title isn’t really nescessary, but fun and we moms like fun! Maybe I should have put: ‘Help pay to wash my floors!’

The first advertiser you should sign up for is Google Adsense(link below). It is of course, my humble opinion, but then again, it’s my blog right? I’ve had an adsense account since 2005 and it has always netted me a nice sum for the traffic I’ve had. I placed the Goggle adsense ads directly into the design of the blog on the sidebar and just below the header. This is so the ads will show up on any page of the blog.

I may decide to place another banner at the footer of the blog, we’ll see. I’ll let you know if I do and why at that time.

Why Google Adsense fits the bill on this blog:

  1. The ads target the products my users want to see by using keywords in what I’m writing to you all. So, if I write about what you want to read about, it will give you what you want to see too. i just love how that works.
  2. Realtime stats, almost. About an hour off. Google’s stats for adsense are really good and I enjoy using them to their full potenial by defining categories and everything.
  3. Pretty fair rates.

To begin making money online with a blog, I needed to start a blog. A real one, with a domain name and everything! Those free blogs just don’t offer the money making opportunity like we want. So off I went. I found a list of different hosts and well, spent quite a bit of time clicking around and checking out the offers. Most important to me was bandwidth - I don’t want to have to start paying more for the blog when it starts to get really busy. So I wanted a lot. I also wanted a decent cPanel, which is great to have, support staff and blog plug ins. this way, I didn’t have to install my blog myself. I found this all at HostICan.com.

They allow the Word Press blogging program to run and post to the site, all you have to do is fill out a form on your cPanel and you are up and running. They have lots of themes to choose from, mega knowledge base and FAQ to help you figure anything out and it is just simple. I’m very happy with my choice. If you sign up with them, be sure to take a minute and sign up for their affiliate program too. You’ll have a host and an affiliate in one swoop!
