Boost their community while you build your brand. Get to know them. Comment on their blogs, be friendly in their forums, and use your brand in your signature. One caution here: Do not be a jerk. Be friendly for real. Follow their rules for linking in your signature and don't spam their forum or comments.

Write for good content other sites in your niche and get a byline with a link into your site. you can do the same by creating videos for other sites or Youtube and place your link in the video. When you promote your site or blog by doing favors for other website owners or bloggers, you build your community and brand along with gaining more pageviews.
